Enchey Monastery: The literal meaning of
Enchey Monastery is the 'Solitary Temple'. It is
situated in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Enchey
Monastery is built on the location blessed by
Lama Druptob Karpo, a tantric master known for
his power of flying.
Best time to visit: March to late May, October to
Mid-December. Best time to visit: April to Mid-
June; Mid September to November.



Rumtek Monastery: It is situated at a distance of
24 kms from Gangtok. Rumtek Monastery hosts
various Tibetan festivals throughout the year. The
Monastery sets in tranquil and the picturesque
background of lofty hills and soothing waterfalls.
Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical garden: It is just away
24 km from Gangtok. Best time to visit: March to
June and September to December.

West Sikkim:




Pemayangtse Monastery:
Pemayangtse is situated in West Sikkim at
Gyalshing, 140 Kms. from Gangtok. Pemayangtse
Gompa boasts of a brilliant collection of ancient
Buddhist antique idols, scriptures as well as
sculptures. Visit other Sanga - Choling Monastery.
Best time to visit: March and May


Khecheopalri Lake, Pelling:
It is a Holy Lake for Buddhists in West Sikkim.
Pilgrims and tourists from all parts of the world
come to visit this sacred lake. This lake is also
known as the wishing lake. A grand festival is
celebrated here during February to March.
Best time to visit: December-Feb.



Tashiding Monastery:
The very oldest Tashiding Monastery is situated in
the state of Sikkim. The Monastery has a holy
chorten (stupa) known by the name of 'Thong-Warang-
Dol' that literally means 'Saviors by mere
sight'. This monastery is perched on top of the hill
rising between the Rathong River and the Rangit
River, providing breathtaking views of the scenery
below. Tashiding Monastery is also famous for its
celebration of Bumchu. Best time to visit: March to
late May, October to Mid-December.




Varsey: Varsey is a town in West Sikkim in India.
Varsey is called the valley of rhododendrons. The
dense forest of Varsey is wrapped with hemlocks,
silver firs, magnolia and rhododendron trees and
bushes. Best time to visit: April – May.

North Sikkim:


Phodong Monastery:
This monastery is in North Sikkim 28 km from
Gangtok. It is one of the most prestigious
monasteries of Sikkim. The Phodong monastery of
North Sikkim houses 260 monks. The greatest
attractions of this monastery are the wonderful
murals that decorate the walls of the
monastery. Best time to visit: February to May,
September to December. Best time to visit: October
to June.

 


Lachung:
It is located in the North Sikkim district. The town is
approximately 125 km from the capital Gangtok.
Lachung is famous for its collection of different
species of Rhododendron that bloom during the
months of April - May. Best time to visit: April to
May,



Yumthang:
Yumthang lies 140km north of Gangtok. Yumthang
is a unique place where the tree line ends. It also
provides us the views of a stunning array of peaks
with Pauhunri and Shundu Tsenpa. This valley is
easily accessible from Mangan by regular jeeps or by
hired taxis. Best time to visit: Late February and
continues up to mid June.

South Sikkim:


Namchi:
Namchi lies at a distance of 78 kms from Gangtok.
It is nestled among the hills, the snow capped
mountains and vast stretches of valley. It is also
head-quaters of South district. 'Namchi' literally
means 'Sky High'. Namchi offers an astonishing view
of Darjeeling, Kalimpong and the snow-cloaked
mountains. Best time to visit: Mid-February-May &
mid-September-December.




Temi Tea Garden: Temi tea garden in Sikkim
is the main attraction. It has been acclaimed as
one of the best tea producing estate in India.
From the top of this tea hill, the panoramic view
of neighboring villages can be seen. Best time to
visit: March to late May, October to Mid-
December.




Borong: Borong is a small picturesque village in
south Sikkim. A village offers beautiful and
magnificent landscape of areas around. Borong
is one of the most interesting trials grading all
the hill tops along the route. Best time to visit:
April and May.
